Ann is an awesome boss!

Today, I am going to do something atypical with my weblog- I’m not going to complain and groan about technology that doesn’t work well, or that spies on you, or even ponder out loud on the confusion something or someone instills in me at any given time. There’s not even a shred of nerdspeak to be found in the following words.
Instead of the usual kerfuffle (Hat tip to Gnumoon and her awesome stuff!) alerts, today I am going to set aside a place here to talk about someone I’ve grown to admire intensely in just a little under a year’s time.
That someone is my immediate supervisor and friend, Ann Kiefert1.
Ann has been a constant motivational force in my work at Appalachian since day one. I look up to her as a superior, but she doesn’t operate like a boss. Far from it! While being very deft at organization and planning, she provides gentle cues and hints which have helped steer the direction of everything I’ve managed to accomplish thus far.
While I’m quite certain she appreciates my work here, she is also not afraid to challenge or disagree with anything that I do. She does so however, in a very sensible, respectful, and non-confrontational manner- providing me with regular examples of the very definition of constructive criticism.
She works very hard and displays a passion for her work that is something to aspire to, and she leads with grace and diplomacy that never fails to impress me, despite the modesty she prefers to convey about her abilities as a leader.
I look forward to interacting with Ann every day, and am honored and thankful to be a part of her team. I just want to thank her for being the kind of leader that I’ve had the fortune to work with less often than not in my career. Fortunately though, my last supervisor prior to working at Appalachian seems to have set a standard by which I will always look to in others; Ann meets and exceeds that standard all the time.
Ann, I’m looking forward to doing all I can to assist in the realization of our goals going forward, and just want you to know it has been a genuine pleasure to work with you and help in the capacity I’ve been able to so far! Thank you for everything!
